In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at IVF Florida

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of the most effective and widely used fertility treatments available today. IVF Florida’s experienced reproductive endocrinologists use advanced IVF techniques to support individuals and couples in building their families with personalized, compassionate care.

What is IVF?

IVF is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) that involves fertilizing an egg with sperm in a laboratory and then transferring the resulting embryo to the uterus. This process gives many patients a greater chance of conception, especially when other treatments have not been successful.

IVF may use your own eggs and sperm or involve donor eggs, donor sperm, or donor embryos, depending on your medical history and goals.

When is IVF recommended?

IVF may be recommended for individuals and couples facing a range of fertility challenges, including:

Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
Endometriosis
Male factor infertility, such as low sperm count or motility
Ovulation disorders or diminished ovarian reserve
Unexplained infertility
Uterine anomalies
Genetic conditions requiring embryo testing (PGT)
LGBTQIA+ family building
Fertility preservation prior to cancer treatment or gender-affirming care

What does the IVF process involve?

Curious about the in vitro fertilization process timeline? IVF typically involves several steps over the course of a few weeks. At IVF Florida, each stage is carefully managed by your dedicated care team to support the best possible outcome.

The IVF process includes:

Step 1

Ovarian stimulation

Step 2

Monitoring

Step 3

Egg retrieval

Step 4

Fertilization

Step 5

Embryo culture

Step 6

Embryo transfer

Step 7

Pregnancy test

Step 1

Ovarian stimulation

Daily hormone injections are used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.

Step 2

Monitoring

Ultrasounds and bloodwork track your response to medications and determine the optimal time for egg retrieval.

Step 3

Egg retrieval

A minimally invasive procedure is performed under gentle anesthesia to collect mature eggs from the ovaries.

Step 4

Fertilization

Eggs are combined with sperm in the lab to create embryos. This is one of the most critical vitro fertilization procedures.

Step 5

Embryo culture

Embryos are monitored for five to seven days post fertilization, and once fully grown, they are frozen through a process called vitrification.

Step 6

Embryo transfer

Since 2018, IVF Florida has been a “freeze-all” practice, and we do not perform fresh embryo transfers. A frozen embryo transfer can be performed during the cycle after IVF or at any time in the future. We follow the embryo transfer guidelines recommended by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.

Step 7

Pregnancy test

A blood test is performed about 10 days after transfer to confirm pregnancy.

Some patients may also choose to freeze embryos for future use or undergo preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to screen embryos for genetic conditions.

Our expert care ensures every step of your IVF journey is personalized and informed.
